By Sumayya Tobah We, as Muslims, need no real reminder as to the importance of time. We are taught, since childhood, that time is fleeting and that everything is temporary. The Prophet (PBUH) said to treat this world as if we are travellers, pausing to rest under the shade of a tree. We must constantly keep in mind that nothing in this lifetime is permanent. Least of all, the regimes of our dictators. To start off with a cliche, the past year has been one for the history books. Did any of us imagine how different our political lives would be, one year later, in January 2012? The Arab Spring did more than simply change the political landscapes of the Middle East; it completely overturned the way Arabian people were viewed by the rest of the world, as well as themselves. |
